Reflection to the Word on the Sunday of April 27, 2025
GOD HEALS THE WOUNDSGOSPEL OF JOHN
“20:26 A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you."
20:27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe."
20:28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
We are wounded not from birth but since conception or maybe even before.
It is a biblical wisdom as it is written in the Book of Genesis:
God "drove out the man (from Paradise); and God placed Cherubs at the east of the garden of Eden, and the flame of a sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
(Genesis, 3)
Albert Einstein, as a modern-day prophet laid out the theory of time as a relative. It is convenient to compare him to the great Jewish prophets, as we know that was also Jewish, hardly escaping the persecution in Germany, together with many other chief scientists, among them Jeno Wigner and Leo Szilard.
There is small anecdote regarding the so called Manhattan project, lead by Oppenheimer, Enrico Fermi, Leo Szilard, thus in the creating of the atomic bombs, Albert Einstein was not directly involved. Nonetheless, he signed a letter, originally worded by Leo Szilard and Jeno Wigner, which called upon the government of the United States, that be aware, that the regime of the Nazi Germany was ahead of the US regarding nuclear experimenting, and it was the time that the American government consider to hastily build its own nuclear research facilities.
There is a legendary story, that during the second world war, President Roosevelt was eating his breakfast, his secretary brought a letter in saying that Sir, you are better to read this. Where is it from? asked the president. It was from Leo Szilard, a professor of Physics, at the Columbia University. All right, said the president, I have not ever heard his name, why should I read this letter?
Because it was co-signed by Albert Einstein, sir, answered the secretary. Ah, said the president, then indeed, we must, but can someone tell me why on Earth Einstein would have signed this noname Professor, Mr. Szilard's letter?
The secretary answered, that because Szilard and Einstein invented together a refrigerator which does not need electricity to operate. Szilard was Einstein student in Germany. “OK, let us read the letter.”
The letter resulted in a presidential hearing, and three people were sitting in the waiting room of the White House to brief the president, as expert physicist about the how to establish American nuclear facilities in an urgent manner.
The three scientists were Leo Szilard, Jeno Wigner, Ede Teller, where Leo Szilard with Fermi led later the nuclear program of the Unites States, Jeno Wigner later received Nobel Price in physics, and Edward Teller is commonly known today as the father of the Hydrogen Bomb, which was invented in 1951.
At the presidential hearing in Washington Edward Teller served as the driver of the other two.
Armed with Albert Einstein’s letter, written on August 2, 1939, America became a nuclear power, about which later Albert Einstein said that if I would have known in advance that the Germans would have never succeeded with their nuclear efforts during the war, I would not have lifted a single finger to write that letter.
It is Hardly widely known, that Einstein’s science changing thoughts came to him not in heavily mechanized science labs, but in his famous thought experiments, like a vision or in manifold visions, visioning his abstract thoughts or visualizing science itself.
Especially, the relativity of time depends on the speed of the observer and the observed objects relative to each other and relative to the speed of light, like watching a train passing by the station with half the speed of life. As the train is riding, the speed might be between to the train and the observers on board or standing at the station, to each other and to the environment as the profound circumstance or condition of their very existence is their relative speed.
As speed depends on time and distance, we can see how the space-time continuum became a pivotal building block of this universe, and maybe other universes as well. The relativity, itself, might be very well also conditional as our whole existence is conditional and pending on time.
The ancient saying carved into marble the time will heal the wounds.
But it is quite a unilateral point of view. Indeed time occasionally is a great healer, but time is a bit similar to the Hindu Trinity, where Brahma is the Creator god, Vishnu is the sustainer of life and the existence, while Shiva is the Destroyer, the great consumer. It is an external view of the very timeline, as time flows from birth to the prime time, until to the dead end, when it turns into eternity.
The greatest minds among the Hindus, like Gautama Siddhartha and Adi Shankara, did not think that the depiction of the timeline as a Holy Trinity within Hinduism should mean three separated Godhead, but they taught that behind all phenomena, there is only one Universal Soul, which can be comprehended as the Creator, the Life Source and Maintainer and the Great Destroyer, all in one at the same time.
The greatest scientific minds today swears that time ultimately does not exist, however our brain makes the occurring events sequenced, as causes and consequences. It is similar, how the pictures our eyes can see, arrives in our brain upside down. Our brain reverses the picture back to its “real” stance. It is so automatic, that we do not have a clue about the process.
Nonetheless, we can understand that time, exists or not, is needed, for any movement in the universe, stellar or microscopic, time is needed to breed life, time is needed to spend the energy on the journey. Time is needed as an ultimate judge over every movement and emotion in the universe, as eventually, everything passes away.
When we think about passing away, as things, events, people keep disappearing from the timeline, that is the very point, when the faithful understanding help us out.
It is not that things, events, people keep passing away and disappearing from timeline, but everything and everybody returns to GOD, who is the Creator, the maintainer and the ultimate JUDGE of events and souls. Time is not linear, time is circular, and as we come from God, we return to God, when time,itself passes by.
God calls us all home, as we follow Jesus toward Heaven by the Holy Spirit, AMEN.
